چکیده

The purpose of camera calibration is to reconstruct the world coordinate system using two-dimensional images. A good calibration result depends on identifying the camera parameters successfully. The use of single two-dimensional calibration boards or three-dimensional calibration boxes for camera calibration results in a camera model which is suitable for local operation only. The objective of the present study is to improve the calibration approach in order to identify the system parameters in a more effective and economical manner. The proposed approach improves the use of stereo images in three-dimensional measurement applications. Copyright © 2005 IFAC

Minimizing Algebraic Error

This paper gives a widely applicable technique for solving many of the parameter estimation problems encountered in geometric computer vision. A commonly used approach in such parameter minimization is to minimize an algebraic error function instead of a possibly preferable geometric error function. It is claimed in this paper, however, that minimizing algebraic error will usually give excellen...

Calibrating the Eye Motion of an Humanoid Robot

In the human visual system, the projective relationship between the images seen in each eye with each other changes with their motion as the viewer attends to different points in space. The active vision heads built for many humanoid robots approximate human gaze behavior and share this property. Knowledge of this projective relationship is used in stereo vision tasks and is captured entirely b...

Self-calibration of a moving zoom-lens camera by pre-calibration

We consider the problem of self-calibrating a moving camera which is equipped with a zoom lens. This consists essentially in estimating the 5 intrinsic parameters of the pinhole camera model. However, these parameters are not independent, subject to zooming. Thus, we propose to do a pre-calibration of the camera, with the aim to model the interdependence of the intrinsic parameters. We show tha...

Nonparametric , Model - Based Radial Lens Distortion Correction Using Tilted Camera Assumption ∗

Radial lens distortion prohibits use of simple pinhole camera models in computer vision applications, especially when using wide-angle lenses, which result in barreltype distortion. Usual approach to radial distortion is by the means of polynomial approximation, which introduces distortion-specific parameters into the camera model and requires iterative methods for their calculation. Based on t...
